Teaching Impact
Who was your favorite teacher and why? Our parents are the first teachers in our lives, but after them a great variety come our way and influence us in many ways. There were the teachers that you liked and wanted to impress, the teacher you hated because obviously they hated teaching (you could never figure out why they tried to teach), the teacher you made out to be evil but turned out to teach you more that you ever thought possible.
Which teacher(s) made the most impact on you? Share it with me. What made you like or dislike teachers? Do you think that teachers are doing a good job bringing proper education to youth these days? Are teachers teaching or just reciting notes tossed to them from a former teacher?
Good teachers are faced with delivering information to students and making it stick while staying within certain boundaries. They have to master getting on a kid level but be an adult. It’s a rare gift and the characteristics of a fantastic, positive impacting teacher probably can’t be learned.
One of my “wanna be when I grow up” was a teacher. This was because of the admiration that I held for many of my great teachers. I wanted to have a positive impression upon another life. I wanted to spark thought and wonder in another mind. I have never made it into the classroom; but I wonder if my call to teach is through writing. Maybe I’m meant to inspire and impact minds via written word. Time will tell…-ed
