Friday Five

March6

It’s Friday and your brain is fried. The weather is finally warming up and the sun is begging for you to go outside and play. Five o’clock seems like a l-o-n-g way away. Tie up the loose ends and make the most of the rest of the work day by feeding your mind with some “useless information that’s essential to know,” from Children’s Miscellany Too .

In an effort to bring you valuable information that can be used in the work place, I have carefully chosen 5 facts that can be used in team building exercises should you see fit; or that will benefit your individual growth with your employer. Remember, internet in the workplace should be used a tool to yield better work. Wasting time on sites that contribute little to no value to increasing your worth could result in a resume producing event. (In other words, don’t surf sites that could get you’re bum canned!)

Fun Friday Facts:

1. Emoticons – If you send emails all day you probably use emotions. Here are a few you may not have known.

I’m crying with laughter :’-D

I’m bored  :-|

I’m crying :’-(

Yuck! 8-P

Oops! :-O

Pee-yew :=(

Giggles ^^^

2. Text Message History – the first text message was sent in 1992.

3.  Be Polite – Here’s “excuse me” in 5 different languages:

“Sumimasen” – Japanese

“Perdón” – Spanish

“Oprostite” – Croatian

“Pardon” – Dutch

“Suggnome” – Greek

4. Sick day – know how fast you’re dying, seek medical attention if necessary. Here’s how long your cells live:

Stomach – 3 days

Skin – 2-4 weeks

Liver – 4-5 months

Blood – 4-6 months

Bone – 7 years

Brain – Can last a lifetime, but you lose 10,000-100,000 per day.

5.  Good to know – animals that change color:

chameleon . flounder . octopus . cuttlefish . golden tortoise beetle . bark spider

Ok, now you know more that you did. Therefore, you are now a more informed employee. You deserve a break. -ed

Trivia is only useless if it’s never used.  Just like most teachers say why we must learn math, “you never know when you might need to use it.” We sure didn’t hear them calling it “useless math” now did we?

The Joker/Batman
The Green Goblin/Spider-Man
The Cheetah/Wonder Woman
Black Adam/Captain Marvel
